Public Works Department
The main purpose of Public Works is the routine and emergency maintenance of the road system in the county. The largest division in the county's organization, Public Works encompasses Fleet Management, Storm Water Management, Utilities Coordination, Solid Waste, Right of Way, Bridges, Reclamation and Stabilization, Mosquito Control, Parks and Recreation, Clearing, Facility Maintenance, and Road Building operations.

The Public Works Department is tasked with engineering, building and maintaining the County's roads, including --- miles of asphalt roads and --- miles of dirt roads and their stormwater drainage systems, and --- wood and concrete bridges. Public Works is also tasked with the operation of yard waste and construction debris landfills, solid waste landfill contamination cleanup, collection of special appliances and household hazardous waste, recycling programs, --- parks, building artifical reefs, maintenance of --- traffic intersection signals, and the control of disease-carrying mosquito populations.
