Gornto Springs will be Closed Beginning January 30, 2017

Dixie County Board of County Commissioners is working diligently to complete the Gornto Springs Restoration Project, through the Suwannee River Water Management District. The restoration project includes approximately 300 feet of retaining wall, removal of sediment within the spring run and removal of a man made earthen dam and culvert. After multiple attempts, the high water levels continued to postpone the work. After recently assessing the conditions, it has been determined that levels are appropriate. Beginning on January 30, 2017, the Park will be closed for construction; approximately 10-12 weeks.  Once reopened, it will be advertised. The County Commissioners would like to thank the citizens for their cooperation during the project. We are anxious to get Spring restored! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact the County Manager’s Office at 352-498-1426 or Commissioner Gene Higginbotham at 352-356-0401.
